Howarth brand oboes are manufactured in England, and are available in a variety of models suited for any level of player from the student to the professional. All models are made entirely of wood and contain all necessary key work, including low B-flat and left hand F keys. The instruments are backed by a one-year crack warranty, and are extremely resistant to cracking because of the specialized African Blackwood that is used in their manufacture. The student models are highly recommended also because of their durable key work and sturdy, protective cases. There are three student models and two professional models available, assuring a fit for any budget. The english horns manufactured by Howarth have a great reputation because of their beautiful tone, stability of tuning, and reliability of construction. Two student models and two professional models are available, including the S20c that is perfect for individuals with smaller hands.

Howarth Model S50 - This new full Gillet system oboe is designed to be lightweight and comfortable to hold. Advanced students will enjoy the professional sound and the mechanism at an advantageous price. The current S5 is a thick-walled oboe offering you fine tuning and a large, powerful sound. The S5 models remain the benchmark upon which the Howarth reputation for quality has been built. Many of the greatest recordings have been and still are made using instruments from the S5 range. This time-proven range of instruments are admired in oboe sections the world over. Designed for the professional player, this oboe is completely hand-made. Howarth XL (made from Cocobolo wood.) - Designed for the professional player, made from Cocobolo wood. The lower density Cocobolo gives a warm, rich palette of sound. The lighter colour of the wood displays the beautiful patterns in the grain particularly well. For additional comfort, Cocobolo-bodied instruments save 10% in weight over the equivalent instrument with an African Blackwood body. Our new range of XL bocals complement these instruments perfectly. The density of the Blackwood body gives a dark and powerful sound, enhancing the projection.
